TYler Shaver
Tyler Shaver is a student composer and pianist based in Chicago. He graduated from Saint Ignatius College Prep and is currently pursuing a dual-degree from Northwestern University in Music Composition and Philosophy. He has written music for the Nu Deco Ensemble, the Honors Music Institute at Penn State, Jacobs Composition Academy at Indiana University, Saint Ignatius Wind Symphony, and Interlochen Ensembles. His music explores sonic realms through experimenting with fixed media and electronics, extended instrumental techniques, and repetition, creating expansive soundscapes and vivid images.
Tyler Shaver has won multiple awards for composition. He won the YoungArts Award with Distinction, a finalist for From The Top, 5 total awards at the Illinois Music Educators Association in 2023 and 2024 including First Place in Avant Garde/Electronic, and Regional Winner at the National Music Federation Club.
Tyler Shaver is also a published author, writing research papers in both philosophy and music theory. Research papers have been published in the Curieux Academic Journal and self-published by the Deleuze New Music Collective.
Tyler Shaver has been taught by Dr. Chris Mercer, Dr. Baljinder Sehkon, Dr. Kerrith Livengood, Dr. Don Freund, Dr. Jennifer Jolley, Dr. Amanda Harberg, and Mr. Tucker Johnson.
